Virtues of Makkah and its surrounding areas

  • A Ramadhan spent in Makkah is better than a thousand (months of) Ramadhan spent elsewhere. [Musnad ul Bazzar]

  • The first piece of earth was placed in the location of (Allah’s) house and then from there the earth was expanded and the first mountain that Allah placed on the face of the earth was Abu Qubais. Subsequently mountains were spread out from there. [Shu’abul Imaan- Baihaqi]

  • Saddles should not be fastened (on animals of conveyance to journey anywhere for spiritual purposes) except to three masajid: Masjid ul Haraam, this masjid of mine (i.e. Masjid un Nabawi) and Masjidul Aqsa. [Sunan Abu Dawud, Sunan Ibn Majah, Musnad Ahmad]

  • This nation will always remain in goodness so long as they rightfully honour this sacred place. When they will begin to neglect it they will perish. [Sunan Ibn Majah]

  • Indeed Allah held back the elephant from Makkah and gave His Messenger and the believers authority over it. Fighting (in Makkah) was not permitted for anyone before me. It was only made permissible for me for a portion of a day and (now) it is impermissible for anyone after me. Its game should not be chased. Its thorny bushes should not be uprooted and picking up fallen things within it is not allowed except for those who wish to make a public announcement for it. [Sahih Bukhäri]

  • What a pleasant city you are and how beloved you are to me. Had my people not exiled me from you I would not live anywhere else. [Tirmithi, Ibn Hibban, Mustadrak al Haakim]

  • Allah has angels deputed by the posts of the Haram since the day he created the world till the time of the final hour, who pray for those who perform pilgrimage (in a manner that they) walk from their cities (to the Haram). [Dailami]

  • A man from the Quraish named Abdullah will renounce the relgion (of Islam) in Makkah. He will bear half of the punishment of the world. [ Mu’jamul Kabeer- Tabrani]

  • Dajjaal will be unable to enter Makkah and Madinah.[Musnad Ahmad]

  • Whoever enters Makkah and humbles himself for the sake of Allah and lets Allah’s happiness supersede all his affairs, he will not exit it until he is completely forgiven. [Dailami]

Virtues of the Kaba

  • The first masjid to be placed in the earth was Masjid ul Haraam then Masjid ul Aqsa. The time difference between the two was forty years. So wherever the time of salah comes upon you then pray because there is virtue within it. [Sunan Ibn Majah, Musnad Ahmad]

  • Indeed Allah ta’ala sends down upon this masjid i.e. the masjid of Makkah 120 forms of mercy day and night. 60 for those who perform Tawaaf, 40 for those who pray (in it) and 20 for those who just look at it. [ Mu’jamul Kabeer- Tabrani]

  • One prayer in Masjidul Haraam is equal to one hundred thousand prayers (elsewhere in reward) and one prayer in my masjid i.e. Masjid un Nabawi is equal to a thousand prayers and one prayer in Baitul Maqdis ( Jerusalem ) is equal to five hundred prayers. [Shu’abul Imaan- Baihaqi]

  • Whoever enters the house (of Allah) has entered a good deed and has exited sin in a manner that he is completely forgiven. [ Mu’jamul Kabeer- Tabrani]

  • Looking at the Ka’bah is an act of worship and looking at the faces of ones parents is an act of worship and looking at Allah’s book is an act of worship. [Ibn Abu Dawood]

  • The place of (Allah’s) house i.e. the Ka’bah during Adams A.S. era was only a mark the size of a hand span or a bit bigger. Angels used to perform pilgrimage there before Adam A.S. After a period of time Adam A.S. performed pilgrimage there and subsequently (upon his return) the angels confronted him and asked, “Where are you coming from?” He replied,” I went for pilgrimage to the house (of Allah)”. They informed him,” The angels have performed pilgrimage there before you”. [ Sunan ul Kubra: Baihaqi]

  • Verily 70 prophets A.S. have passed by the rocks of Raw’ha barefooted with a cloak on. They were all headed for the ancient house of Allah. Amongst them was Musa A.S. [Mu’jamul Kabeer- Tabrani, Abu Ya’la]

Virtues of the Black Stone

  • Indeed this stone has a tongue and two lips. It will justly testify on the Day of Judgment in favor of those who kissed it. [Ibn Hibban, Mustadrak al Haakim]

  • By Allah! Allah will definitely resurrect it on the Day of Judgment with two eyes, through which it will see and a tongue through which it will speak. It will justly testify in favor of those people who kissed it. [Tirmithi]

  • The black stone is from Paradise . It was more whiter than snow until the sins of the polytheists blackened it.[Musnad Ahmad]

  • The (black) stone is Allah’s right hand on this planet through which he shakes hands with his servants. [Khateeb, Ibn Asaakir]

  • Touching the black stone and the Yamani corner diminishes sins completely.[Musnad Ahmad]

  • The (black) stone and the ‘Maqaam’ (i.e. the stepping stone of Ibrahim A.S.) are sapphires from the sapphire of Paradise . If Allah did not extinguish their light they would have lit up the distance between the east and the west. [Abu Dawood at Tayalisi]

  • The black stone is a stone from Paradise and Zumzum is a wisp from Jibra’eels wing. [Dailami]

  • If the impurities and filth of the pre-Islamic era and the hands of the tyrants and leaders had not shaped the corner (where the black stone is affixed) then every single disabled person would be cured through it and it would be found today the way it was when Allah created it. Allah only converted it into black so that the people of this world would not be able to witness the beauty of Paradise . It will definitely be changed back into its original form (in the future). The stone is actually a white sapphire from the sapphires of Paradise which Allah placed in the location of the Ka’bah when Adam A.S. was sent down before the Ka’bah was built. The earth in those days was pure. No sin had been committed on it nor were there any dwellers to make it impure. Allah placed a row of angels for it around the boundaries of the Haram in order to protect it from the dwellers of the earth. The inhabitants in those days were the Jinn. It was not suitable for them to look at it because it was an object from Paradise . Whoever looks at Paradise will enter it; therefore it is inappropriate for anyone to look at it except those for whom paradise has been made compulsory. The angels would drive the jinn away from it while they would be standing on the boundaries of the Haram, surrounding it from every corner. This is why the boundary has been named the Haram because the angels stand between them and the stone. [ Mu’jamul Kabeer- Tabrani]

Virtues of the Yamani Corner

  • Seventy angels have been assigned by the Yamani Corner. So whoever says,” O Allah! I ask for forgiveness and good health in this world and in the hereafter. O Our Lord! Grant us in this world (that which) is good and in the hereafter (that which) is good and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.” They say, “ Aameen.” [Sunan Ibn Majah]

  • Every time I have approached the Yamani Corner I have met by it 10 million angels who have never performed pilgrimage before. [Dailami]

  • Touching the two corners (i.e. the Yamani Corner and the Black Stone corner) expiates sins (Tirmithi)

|

Virtues of the Multazam

  • The area between the corner (where the black stone is affixed) and the Maqaam is the Multazam. Never does a disabled person supplicate by it except he is cured. [ Mu’jamul Kabeer- Tabrani]

Virtues of the Hijr i.e. Hateem

  • Pray in the Hijr if you wish to pray in the house (of Allah) for verily it is a portion of the house however your people i.e. the Quraish fell short of adding it in (due to lack of halal funds) when they were (re) constructing the Ka’bah so consequently they excluded it from the house (of Allah). [Tirmithi, Musnad Ahmad]

  • If your people i.e. the Quraish had not just converted from the period of ignorance I would have definitely demolished the house (of Allah) so I could add to it what they had excluded from it i.e. the Hijr. They had come short on its funding. I would have also made two doors for it; an east side door and a west side door and I would make them touch the ground (instead of elevating them) and I would place the structure on the foundation of Ibrahim A.S. [Mustadrak al Haakim]

Virtues of Zamzam

  • It is blessed. It is also nourishment i.e. Zamzam [Sahih Muslim, Musnad Ahmad]

  • May Allah have mercy on Isma’eels mother. Had she not been haste (in trying to stop and control the water) it would have been a flowing spring.  [Sahih Bukhäri]

  • The water of Zamzam is for what it has been drunk for. If you drink it to seek a cure through it, Allah will cure you. If you drink it to seek protection, Allah will protect you. If you drink it to quench your thirst, Allah will extinguish your thirst. If you drink it to satisfy your appetite, Allah will satisfy you. It is the (result of the) strike of Jibra’eel and the water supply of Isma’eel. [Mustadrak al Haakim, Daru Qutni]

  • The best water on the face of this planet is the water of Zamzam. [Mu’jamul Kabeer- Tabrani]

  • The dividing factor between us and the hypocrites is that they do not drink Zamzam to their fill. [Sunan Ibn Majah, Mustadrak al Haakim]

  • When Jibra’eel struck Zamzam with his heels Isma’eels mother began to gather it in the plain. May Allah have mercy on Hajar. Had she left it alone it would have been a flowing spring. [Musnad Ahmad]
